Last night was my last 'Starry Nite' at SMU.
For those who don't know what 'Starry Nite' is, it's a night where all students wind down from the frenzy of projects, listen to live bands (usually those from EIC, Indigo and other 'indigenous' bands from SMU) and gear themselves up for the impending exams.
Just can't help but to feel a tad sense of nostalgia as I recollect my time at the Old Campus and how things have changed in all aspects-having moved to the City, new relationships formed and of all experiential wellness.
Though it wasn't the best 'Starry Nite' ever as the other bands after couldn't keep up with the gripping performance by Indigo and Anthony (aka the 'Guitar God' of SMU and maybe Singapore), I just liked myself soaking in the atmosphere. Together with the good friend turned special someone.

Cheers to serendipity.

Just had my QM quiz. It was easy peasy. but NOT easy peasy for me because though it was an open book quiz, I didn't print out my notes! Right! How smart and how brilliant of me. I wuna kill myself. fuck!
I left out the last 2 questions because I was stunned by his atrocious English. I hate the way he tries to be funny, with the singlish and all that jazz, and I end up not understanding a single shit he's saying! Before I could take some time to understand, time was up! WTF.
My weird prof gave a proposal though-we can either just go up to him and get a B-/B, or we can just let him grade our quiz answers. I'm thinking thinking, tempted to just walk away with a B. Dignity's at stake though.
But I wonder if I really care about this dumb quiz. *grinz*

My arm got slapped by an extremely dirty table cloth while the uncle at Clementi hawker centre was cleaning the mess on my table;
a friggin cockroach almost crawled onto me while I was on a cab.
I'm paranoid but I felt super uber irked.
I think I washed myself over a 100 times today.

Forgive me, i'm plain anal. *grinz*

How to make the perfect Sam-Gyop-Sal ('three layered pork') Korean dish.

Poh Hwee with her bf, Ming, who is here on a two weeks' visit to Singapore.
1) Find a Korean boyfriend. He adds more authencity to the meal with contributions ranging from the supervision of ingredients to manual carrying of groceries -which displays intimately the typical Korean male chauvinism and chilvary.
2) Prepare the ingredients required namely pork (three layered type), lettuce (or any other big leafy vegetables), garlic, green chilli, steamed korean rice, hot sauce and seasoned chives.

3) Fry pork and garlic together on hot plate. Infuse the flavours together.

4) Wrap altogether rice, cooked pork, cloves of garlic, chilli slices, chives and a slap of hot sauce onto a big leafy vegetable.

Hoi just can't wait to savage the mouthwatering wrap!
5) Wrap everything tightly on one hand and stuff the whole piece of 'poh piah' looking thingy into your mouth. (Chewing it bit by bit apparently loses the 'oomph'/'shiokness' compared to eating it at a go.) However, eating it in this manner does not guarantee that you will not suffer from jaw lock the next day!
Pat reaching out for more food.
6) Keep theTuckin going! Make sure you have a good appetite and an empty stomach though. And of course, be with the company of other like-minded foodies who will never put you on a guilt trip for overeating.

Reina gives a victory sign.
7) If in doubt, strike a pose, sit at a side quietly and well...be, pretty.

Can we shed more light onto Thomson district s.v.p?.

Cosy dessert dinning at Icekimo.

My sis and I always enjoy our jaunt to our favourite ice-cream parlour, Icekimo. This place adds on to one of the many other food joints (such as Tong Sui Cafe)which have seen to have recently sprouted along Upper Thomson Road. Fluffy waffles and a wide variety of ice-cream selection to choose from-this place beckons the family-goers, couples and slacker students. I give it a thumbs up!

Street near Church of Notre Dame

Bonjour! Je m'pelle Serene! Avour!

Just some of the few niceties picked up from my first French lesson this evening. Rather proud of myself for fulfilling a long expired resolution and finally gotten my ass kicking.

Thank God for some real handsome Ang Bao money collected over the CNY in which has helped to earn myself another set of language skills=). Will be going for class every Thursday evening with Ben Lim ( a fellow accountancy course mate at SMU, truely passionate about the French culture and language and what nots. ). I'm really excited about this because I hope to impress some of my french speaking friends whom I got to know on exchange. I'm sure they would be thorougly thrilled!*smiles* And also, I hope that one day I get a chance to live and work in my favourite part of the world-Paris!

Little aspirations, baby steps.

It's been a long time since I've had such a super day.
For the following reasons-

  1. My prof posed a question at me in class and I could quickly come out with a rather decent answer (I was happily chatting on MSN btw).
  2. I met up with Jen after the longest time. She's finally gotten herself a break after months of training and flying with SIA.
  3. We went shopping and at long last, bought myself a bag for school. It's chic, black and just $69 from Miu Miu. Along side a casual piece of shirt and some hair accessories for my unkempt hair whenever I workout at the gym.
  4. Pernille, my best friend in Aarhus, finally up-ed one notch with the savvy level and used skype to talk to me for the first time. I missed her!
  5. Parents had a nice chat with me -dad couldn't stop talking about his purchases at the IT fair.
  6. And best of all, I had lunch with my uber hot date.

So..What gives?

Imagine hopping onto a random bus (i took bus 162 btw) and the interior looked like this! It looked totally like a lounge decked with swivel chairs, leather upholstery cushioned sofas and a flat screened TV mounted onto the panel. I thought it was the coolest bus journey I ever had! After doing some research,I found out that this was a promotion effort by Nokia. What a super fun ride!

I think I got my sense of humour from my dad.

Celebrating my dad's birthday at the Churchill room in Tanglin Club yesterday, my brother started raving about some super hot Japanese lead stewardess who served him on the plane.

Bro: "I was going to make my way through the toilet when this Japanese lead stewardess was blocking the way.."

Me: " u-huh..then?"

Bro:" Then when I said 'excuse me', she responded with her crisp Japanese accented English saying 'Mr Lim, 50 cents pleasseeee."

Me: "Then?"

Bro:" Then I 'sor sor'(caressed) her hand a bit and said 'Here's your 50 cents..On retrospect, I should have kissed my fingers before I touched her."

Just when I was rolling my eyes in view of this pathetic elusive exchange of flirtation, Dad replied cheekily-

" Oh, you mean you allowed the lead stewardess to lead you on?"

I burst out laughing and expounded further with stuff like 'yea wasn't she a great way to fly' and 'fly me to the moon baby!'.

Dad smiled at me and said 'you've got a sense of humour'.

Happy birthday Pa.
