With Huiling and Alvin gone for the weekend to Helsingor to visit Hl's dad, Pernille and I were left at home in Aarhus and hence we decided to go for a nice quiet evening at the cinema. The show, Walk the Line, was somewhat like a blueprint of Ray but nevertheless I enjoyed myself. That Friday evening was however far from being a quiet and peaceful one. On our way home, we met some people from school and they were all heading towards my kollegium for a party. So, with much spontaneity and unexpectedness, Pernille and I threw our stuffs into our rooms (how convenient is that), and headed towards the common room. To my disbelief, I saw so many people all packed like sardines. Jostling and squeezing through the huge crowd, I was surprised to see soo many people whom I knew from school! It's almost like an unspoken time and place to meet, and if u were not there, you'd have missed out a whole lot of fun (ie ur a nerd..ho hummmm). I find that parties in Denmark are so strange. You set up a place, and play some music and there, everyone will come with their own booze and socialise and go mad. In Singapore, the host or hostess must prepare the drinks, have very good partying music at a chic location and people are more reserved and appear to be more poised. I think I much prefer the former because it's so much more fun. Enough said, enjoy the following photos:
I think the person lifted in red is the birthday boy of the party. As you can see people are just drinking and going bonkers.

Pernille and I just basking in the flavour.

LONDON

As some of you may already know, I went to London 2 weeks after arriving in Aarhus. Here is a slightly old diary of it. I hope you will all enjoy it.

London...

The city of modern vibrancy with a touch of classic renaissance. A place of legends, literature, classical art and ancient architecture. Yet they compliment so very nicely with the influence of globalisation whereby top shop, zara, starbucks and hsbc litter the entire streets. Every moment felt like a breath of freshness as I thronged down the streets of London. Everything awed me-from the swarms of pigeons that gathered around the tralfagar square to the multi-storeyed levels of fashion boutiques to the lively demonstrations witnessed within a few kilometres away from donning street (Blair's residence) to the museums and galleries that had the air of grandeur and maginificence in them. Oh boy. The first few days were almost like taking a relaxing trip along the monopoly board. Trafalgar square, picadilly, oxford, westminster,leicester..u name it. I was extremely pleased that I had the opportunity to serve my craving for art and history-for one, I was totally mesmerised by Monet's Iris and Van gogh's Sunflowers at the national gallery; shakened by the horrific experience of the holocaust as exhibited at the imperial war museum; a well worth last minute trip down to the British museum in which I loved the exhibit on life and death the best(basically an exhibition on how people from all over the world deal with the issues of relationship, uncertainty, death and sickness.); and lastly, visited the temple of christ housed in the most exquisite place known as the St paul's cathedral. In addition, the great weather was indeed a blessing for our trip in London.

To save my readers from boredom, let me just draw some conclusions from the highlights that i've experienced from this trip-

1) It is True that London is the most expensive place to live in: Hopped onto a random train upon arrival that cost me 25 pounds for a return ticket and paid a jaw dropping taxi price of 20 pounds from liverpool station to Faj's house (that is like the distance from thomson road to yio chu kang).

2) London is also not safe at night: Especially for a girl with no company, and worse, with not a single pound sterling. Several dorgy characters came up to me while I tried my best to look like a seasoned local when I first arrived at Liverpool station. Some pakistani asked whether I wanted a taxi ride, some asked whether I would like to head to the stansted airport with them. I was just glad to hop onto a metred taxi and get to faj's place as soon as possible. It was 1.30am when all of these occurred. Well, I didnt really had a choice to not be alone as hl and alvin were heading towards a different place to stay. All I can say is that I should have planned the route from airport to london properly.

3) London is a fas

hion hub-throwing fashion out in the wind is a no-no. Wind or no wind, looking good is the rule of the thumb: Women wore tailored berms with trench coats, coupled with quilted handbags and racy heels. Nice and I was oh so jealous as I looked down at my frumpy clothings.

4) Clubbing is the most happening here: Just as you see in the movies-people making out openly; people getting arrested for possibly drugs; great music of all sorts-r&b, house and pop; etc. Great eye opening experience but just don't expect the cleanest of the people there.

5) Weed is delicious: Yes. Finally, I smoked pot for the first time in my life. Location: Nottingham. It was full of aroma and it tasted thrillingly dangerous. Cautious me only had a go with 3 puffs. Thanks mag for getting your mafia friend to share the spoils for free. *winks*. So, I discovered that the myth is true: Weed does make you stupid. After the puff, i found myself forcing the shampoo at the opposite side of the nozzle while showering and onlyrealised after a severe delayed moment in time that it was on the wrong side. sheesh.

6) Do not trust the transport system here: Well, an interesting story happened to hl and alvin whom till now cannot believe their stroke of Extreme bad luck while on their way from London to the airport. The two of them waited at a specified landmark at 3.30am for their bus to take them to stansted aiport in order to catch the 7.15am flight. After much waiting did they conclude that the bus played them out and decided to call for a cab. At about 4 am in the morning it was extremely hard to get a cab and by the time they finally got thru to the cab, it was about 5 plus in the morning. Racing against time, they tried desperately to rush down but was unfortunately hindered by an accident on the road and they were stuck for about an hour before they could reach the airport. They missed their flight altogether.

7) Sleeping in the airport isn't that bad: Tho the time for check in was about 5am, I arrived at Stansted airport at 1230am instead. Caught the last ride to the airport at 1130 so I didnt had any other choice. Besides hl and alvin were supposed to meet me early at 4am, hence i figured i would just spend my time resting at the airport while i waited for just 3 more hours. Well, I realised that I was not the only one sleeping in the airport. Millions were doing the same thing-most on the chairs, some on top of the ledge of the chairs and some on the floor. Was quite an interesting experience but also a rather scarey one as i huddled my bags to sleep in case someone might steal them. ** Here I would also like to thank those who made this trip so special. I conclude lastly that friends are the best thing god has ever created for us=) Tha
nk you Zhexian for being my travel buddy and made the trip extremely smooth sailing and enjoyable for me. Also for faj for lending me a roof over my head and for mag and reina for your great hospitality and company at notts. I did not regret going there at all. And lastly, Tan lilin for the contagious laughter and nice dinner. You brought back memories.
