I no longer need to attend lessons at SMU anymore. It's official. It's the end of week 13. The so called presentation I was suppose to have tomorrow was such a big blunder on my part. It was actually today! I wonder where I put my mind sometimes. I skipped lesson this morning to meet Kelvin (sprang him a surprise actually) and sent him off back to reservist...(thank god it ends this coming monday). While at his place, I checked my email and realised that my make up class was later on in the afternoon rather than tomorrow! And that also meant that I had a presentation! Luckily it was just a small assignment and everything went well.
Yippeee! Last hurdle to go-EXAMS!

Got to mug hard..argh!

It's my hatch day today! whooo pee! I've been feeling this great since the surprise party. Though projects swarmed me all over, but there's still this tinge of excitement somehow. I wanted so badly to start my birthday celebration that I started msg-ing near by friends to go for supper at 2am. hahaha....but that's also because I was slogging so hard for my QM project that has finally finished. phew...I ended the evening feasting American idol, floyd and the naked chef while everyone was asleep.
Just a day after the surprise party I went dinner together with my family. We had buffet at the Churchill room at Tanglin Club. This morning I woke up to hot pipping dim sum at Crystal jade palace. Mum and Dad were there with me. Had a hair cut and dye to ractify the mess that occured at Rochor centre last month. It's so much nicer now and plus I've got a 30% discount birthday treat by Reds. I'm looking forward to Taos with the AC bunch and the opening of Pirates tonight with Pat and hoi.
Can't believe i'm ending school in 2 weeks time. The last presentation of SMU will be this saturday. And it's got to be Accounting theory right? heehee...
km comes out today for a few hours..and heads back for a grilling 3 days operations at the wilderness. I wonder if this is reservist or torture camp sia.

Happy birthday to me. Heee...23years old..but i feel excited.

I guess the immense amount of school work had gotten into my head. It was till the extent that I had somehow conjured the wrong venue of my meeting with kelvin and totally oblivious to the many tricks up his sleeves. Turned out that Kelvin had been sneakily planning an early surprise birthday (cum 2nd month) party for me throughout the time that I had my head buried with work.

Anyway it was in my fuzzy mind that incidentally, we walked into a french cafe. Somehow or another, an empty space was reserved conveniently for two. Flowers dropped from the sky. Presents grew from the floor. Cheryl, HL, Ford, Elgin, Jeremy and Shu appeared out of no where and congregated at One Rochester. (The plan almost got thwarted when I didn't see Jeremy and Shu just standing in front of me fagging. Yes, they scooted off the moment they saw me.) Wait, I had awfully chocolate cake too. And all these wonderful surprises were planned by km (enlisting the help of Jeremy..thanks bro!) while at reservist. I can't imagine the pressure, the anxiety, the physical strain and frustration km had to go through while being so sweet and calm before the event. hugs.So surprised! So touched. So blessed. So grateful. I must say I totally didn't expect anything like this. More pics to come!

Crème brûlée .It's snowing in Paris!

Now I know why Km was giving me the amused look. Happy 2nd dearest!

Tasting France again.
A teapot with a built in strainer and a hard disk drive (I so need to defrag my com). Watch me turn into an addict.

Kelvin hit his knee cap during a low light (more like total darkness) exercise at camp =( Apparently, he mistook the staircase as the wall and crashed into it in the midst of defending himself from the 'enemy'. Sigh. Luckily, he's ok. Just limping, zhor bor-ing and thinking of me. *grinz*

I've been meaning to blog about this but just didn't had the time to do so. Anyway, yesterday, I went all the way to this really far end of singapore; absolutely god forsaken place called Jurong West (Street 51) to do a survey at Citispa. Funny that i'm an accounting student and i've got to do marketing related stuff. But as Hwang(my advanced management accounting prof who has assigned us to do this project) would always say, non-financial information is most of the time, the most crucial information for decision making and analysis of the firm. ok..ho hums.. point taken.
What was really interesting about my experience was from my interaction with a Malaysian receptionist at Citispa and several other customers. Killing time and trying my best to rush my accounting theory summary, I sat at one corner typing furiously onto my laptop. After about an hour or so, the receptionist started to chat with me. She was from Malaysia; just arrived in Singapore a couple of months ago;20 years old;limited knowledge of English; doesn't have the least academic attainment of O'Levels; and she's paid about 1k+ each month. She broke the ice by asking me to help her translate the meaning of 'chao you yu'. I said 'fired'. Rather proud of herself, she wrote down a short sentence stating- " Today, Specs was (I had to help her with the tense) fired". She began lamenting about how a fellow colleague of hers was fired for no rhyme or reason and finding much difficulty to seek some form of recourse such as compensation. According to her, she said that there was indeed something stated in the contract in which the firm would compensate the employee upon immediate termination. Of course, the lady boss, apparently a lawyer, was sharp enough to have drafted the contract towards her favour. Going on to another topic, she sat beside me and read out loud the stuff that I've had typed out on my laptop. She admired our standard of English and she wished that she's alot more educated, and have a laptop to enhance her leaning ability. Interdependently, this comes with one having a good financial cushion to attaining a higher level of education; which she doesn't really have. She finds the job tough, but not the least bit challenging. She aspires to work in a bank as a low level staff and work her way through to becoming a manager. We talked about Singaporean men VS Malaysian guys. She voiced out that Singaporean men are too open minded for her liking (in her malaysian slang she said 'une nite stan is veli common') and hanging out with their friends would just get her lost altogether in the midst of singlish, english and more complicated issues.
I feel sympathetic towards her. I'm sympathetic towards the limitations she's got to face because of the lack of education-socially, lack of protection for herself as an employee, wanting to learn more things but doesn't have the prerequisite level of education or financial means. Yet, I admire her drive to constantly learn; to accept the hardship faced; to be brave enough to step across the borders and search for a better future; her humbleness and her aspiration; her sisterhood and kindness to her fellow colleages. I know of so many well educated people who doesn't even have half of the drive she has. On the other spectrum, I surveyed a young Chinese girl from China who was here for facial. Though she's in our country to search for a better standard of living, she detests studying and will never ever want to touch any books. Perspectives differ, priorities of many levels. Though I used to work in Spinelli and have seen many of my colleagues having to raised their families whilst earning 5 bucks an hour, somehow along the way, I kinda forgot about things and took my privileges for granted. I'm blessed. I'm lucky. I should slap myself if I ever start complaining. *bish*.

The following excerpt is from talkingcock.com
It is about an old man trying to get a job at Macs. Sibeh funny.

"The manager quite happy to hire me, because he say I can speak Engrish not so bad.

But acherly, McDonald's Engrish also quite simpur:
-"You want fly?"
-"Your whorecake wan' sausage?"
-"You wan' Cock or Diet Cock? Small, medium or large? You wan' upsai??
-"Your humbugger wan' jizz on top?"

This sort of question, I Desker Road also come across!

Lim Peh ka li kong, hor, maybe this McDonald's job not so bad! "

To help some of you who don't really understand the meanings to the terms-
Fly= Fries
Whorecake= Hot Cake
Cock= Coke
Upsai= Upsize

I'm so intrigued by Singaporeans sometimes.

The feeling's like you've just gotten your first brush of puberty. Like everything's strange and weird. A slight discomfort. The many horror myths flooding through your mind. Except this is much scarier. It might involve operations.

I've finally gotten my first budding wisdom tooth slightly erupting out of my upper left gum. Initially, I thought that a fish scale got stuck or something. After sticking the whole finger in, I felt a sharp thingy protruding out. I'm just so scared it's going to realign my jaws, or teeth or something. Really frightening if i've got to extract it in the end. ARGH!

I don't like this one single bit.

KM's going back for reservist in 2 days time. And this would mean that I won't see him till the 28th May. Sigh. We will be missing our 2nd month tog and my birthday too! sobs. But whatever it is, I hope km recovers in time from his stomachflu. Poor dear.

A tai-tai gathering of the St nicks girls as we congregated at Pat's place last Friday. We spent the evening indulging in Macs and Mahjong; played catch up and what have you. Bfs were invited but guess KM was the only one who turned up. Why, that's because apart from ph having a long distant rlp with her korean bf, the rest are unattached; some are also single but unavailable and many other grey combinations. It's complicated. hehe. But to me, they're all extremely gorgeous and selectively available..heehee...so guys what are you waiting for?...Least KM managed to entertain himself with his camera while we posed like photo whores.

ser, hoi, ph, reina, gwynne, pat, ruiling and shan lin

Pat's so well trained in the girl guide's fire lighting course and numberous bbq fire start ups that blowing these candles is such an easy peasy thing to her. *grins*
Poh hwee, havent even cut the 'tais' and you wuna 'hu'.
Pat and Shan giving the wtf look at ruiling for winning.
Thanks Pat for lending this piece of gown to me for my cousin's wedding dinner. Just in a desperate nick of time. =)

Saw something displayed rather discretely at a corner of 7-11. Outright flouting of copyright laws. Freaking blatant! Passion...sheesh..how tacky.
Even Km is flabbergasted!

Look at my really hot mama! Mum went over to kelvin's studio upon his invitation to help her take photo for her passport. We ended up having mum to pose like a model. But guess what? We didn't have to try too hard as Mum used to be a model at a modeling agency and she helped her previous company, O&K , to be their company's model. I think she looks really gorgeous in this shot! Think Km really scored points on this one. *winks*

Finally received my LG L1900J monitor screen. Yea, I know. It's been long overdue. That's coz the organisers were seemingly insincere in firming up the final decision to have the monitor delivered to my house. After a couple of white lies saying that I don't have the car with me in Singapore, the guy had it delivered today. He didn't seem too keen in chatting with me either. Hur. Whatever. Km's getting this chio monitor screen, which worths $499, advertised on hardware zone's forum for $400. Anyone keen?

Happy Labour day. A pat on your shoulder for the laborious undertaking.
