Rule no. 1: Be tactful

Most valuable lesson learnt for the day. And it took less than 2 minutes.

New Hires Program in Penang

(Left to right: Me, stef, anqi, adrian, Zhen Quan, Michelle, Karen and Karen (apple))

Unexpected fateful alliance with a handful of NTU students. What's more a transition from mere aquaintance to lunch/MSN (virtual and reality)/email buddies. The concoction(aka the 'ask2(zm)) has made the whole experience a warm one.
Now this was the yummilicious food I was talking about. Prawn paste seems to be like THE special ingredient for both broth and gravy. Penang laksa......misses!

Endless debating and jesting.

Stef and I at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel. 5 stars rocks! Will miss my bellboy, Egg chef and Aussie pilot.

Little boy at Gurney Hawker Centre playing a bubble gun
Hope i'm not just blowing bubbles in the air. Career perplexed.

I am in Penang right now and it's been alot of fun. Just that the fun only begins after 5.30pm! coz that's when all the boring training ends. sheesh. The smu students naturally bonded together in the midst of NTU alumni. The great thing is that some of these smu students are whom I've never had much contact with back in school. And now, we're pretty good friends. Of course, I've also made some friends from NTU-those from my department at the Transaction Advisory Services department.
Some stuffs that I find pretty intriguing-
I never knew penang laksa tasted so darn friggin good. omfg. heh.
Shopping's superb now as they're having their Merdeka Sale (Independence day)
I'm in love with the Hokkien here.

Oh I heard that this is the only best time during your time in EY.
Treasure it.

In a couple of days time I will start fitting into my 2nd home, aka Raffles Place. Oh wait, there's a buffer--I'll be reporting for work at Changi Airport Terminal 2. Destination of training: Penang. Time period: 13-17th August.
May I find peace in finality. Sometimes things just happen for a reason though I can't see it at this juncture. Including rejections.

Poor Km.

Yesterday sucked total big time. I was given a big blasting from my brother for using the car. Clearly, this car belongs to my mum and I don't see why he has to fight it out with me when we have 3 cars at home. fuck. The scolding was ridden with vulgarities and utter harshness. I wonder sometimes if it has ever crossed his mind that i'm after all his sister and the car is just an object. I was on the verge to tears-not coz I was upset or guilty. More like anger being filled to the very brim. Luckily I had my parents around to defend me. Though a rather feeble attempt. sigh..that's what you get when ur family favours the alpha male.

Not that the night went on better coz friends who said they would turn up ended up just cancelling our appointment. Cafes that we wanted to hang out at closed exceptionally early. Luckily we had mag who turned up at the last minute. Hoi , mag and I spent the rest of our evening at dempsey and lido macs. Just didn't feel like going home after all that had happened. But instead, stuffed myself with hokaido ice-cream, french fries and nuggets. Felt good and comforting nevertheless.

Then came the icing on the cake part. I was fucking fined for parking along a zig zag line at the back of lido at freaking 3 am in the morming!!! arghhh. Just checked the traffic police website and realised I've got to pay 120 bucks and slapped with 3 demerit points.

Night before didn't turn out too well either. The night was filled with fatigue, weariness, misunderstandings, lack of understanding, and frustration. Sighest.

Thank God for the day's phototaking session with km , jeremy and serah at the city and bukit timah campuses.

Our trip to Pengerang, together with Shihui and John, turned out to be a 'makan' trip instead of a beach holiday. We arrived pretty late due to 2 hours of waiting time at the ferry. Hence by the time we reached our chalet, it was already around 4 plus and the sun wasn't really on our side. That's the time I decided to frolic in the beach and observe little small crabs burrowing and making sand balls. Km then began taking fun shots of me with his camera. Photos will be up once treated. Speaking of cameras, I'm quite sad that my camera got wet while on the boat ride. Now, it can't really retract back the lens and that's just the number of photos I'd taken. Sobs. Hopefully after a few days recuperation in the dry box will do it some miraculous good.

Boat ride from Changi village to Pengerang, Johor

Ser and km
Shihui and John Tuck-ing in (pun intended..heh)Km's loving the food
Lunch and dinner had us treating ourselves to succulent crabs, Da Tou (clams/mussles.. a new term I'd learned), bamboo clams, prawns etc. Food was super and very cheap too. The day ended with card games and bathing together with some eeky crawlies who managed to creep into the bathroom windows. Our initial plan to wake up early in the morning for photo taking by the beach didn't come thru too as Km and I just slept through the entire morning. sheesh. We filled our hungry stomachs with noodles at a kopitiam. The ambience at the kopitiam and its surroundings had a charming quaint to it. Really peaceful and relaxing indeed.
We all came back to Singapore extremely relaxed, gastronomically satisfied, mosquito bitten, and of course, happy:)
Don't mind going back there when all the re construction is over.

'Uncle ah, ZOO..not Zouk!'. ...

Finally, after a month's worth of asking around, we got our free admission to the zoo. All thanks to Reina who got us a corporate zoo pass. Km was especially excited as he'd been eagerly waiting for this day to take photographs of animals and visiting the zoo once again. Our trip to the zoo was much blessed by the fine weather.

We started our morning at AMK S11 Kopitiam with pick and bite kinda food and milo. Was such a nice refreshing way to begin the morning instead of waking up late in the afternoon. Then we embarked on our journey to the zoo. That's where we were pretty much greeted by the animal kingdom.

Parrots!Look at their colourful feathers.

Outback Australia. A relatively new addition to the zoo. Kangaroos roamed freely within the vicinity.

Grey kangaroos

Km: hey buddy, you've been stomped!
Red Kanga: *giving a wtf look*
Baboon Herd. An interesting observation of their lifestyle. Rather disturbing tho.heh

Live demonstration during feeding time. The polar caught a live fish!

Km and I trying our best to smile and not bother about the charging rhinoes.

Packed sandwiches for lunch! Healthy indeed.

An extremely confused bunch of meerkats. Tame as they may look, they are tough enough to kill scorpions

Km in awe with the tallest animal in the world-the giraffe.

A cute little boy taking a rest

A tree kangaroo. The only kanga that doesn't hop. Be wary of a very silent sniper in action. Only at the fragile forest.

Beautiful butterflies and moths

A flying bat feasting on a piece of watermelon

A cute bunny munching on carrots

Dead beat but extremely satisfied with our day at the zoo
